It's one of the reasons I put an author's note at the start defining "redouble" as a fencing term: I knew most people wouldn't be familiar with it in that sense and how it relates to Dylan having to make another attempt at connection after the first one failed. Mostly I wrote it to wax poetic about how slutty plastrons are and to complain about the fencers from Temple I knew back when I competed in college :P
