Addison :) What are some tropes that you love to see in books that aren’t super common? Im curious to know what types of tropes people like versus dislike!

Jabotikaba I don't know if this is considered a trope, but I like fantasy books where humans and elves (or a similar fictional race) fight each other, as in The Witcher series.
Also, I like the Hidden Heir and the Reformed Villain tropes.

Nathan Helmly On the scifi side, plots based around VR tech fascinate me. I haven't explored too deep into that side of the genre, so maybe there's way more out there than I realize, but it's what made me stomach my way through Ready Player One despite *hating* it, and it made me LOVE the series "Otherland" by Tad Williams.

I don't know, there are a ton of great tropes out there!

Mira Clair I love when trickster characters in fantasy books have to "go undercover" or pretend to be someone else. It's so fun seeing them code-switch into different roles - it's like watching an actor get into character. Although this does mean I read an awful lot of books about liars and confidence men. (Like the Gentlemen Bastards series. Or Lyra in The Golden Compass.)
