Llinos oh my god... I read this as a kid and I hadn't realised the queer themes were so overt, maybe I missed it back then? I sort of want to reread just to see how it lands now in comparison.

I think it's something that would be interesting to reread! The queer themes would probably have gone over my head if I'd read it as a kid, but they're very clearly signposted to an adult reader.

Llinos Forgot to say, I did go back and reread this! Really interesting to notice the things that resonated with me as a kid and how much better I understand them now, and wow you weren't kidding about the anti-intellectualism! Glad I went back and read though.

Rosamund Taylor It's definitely interesting to read again! I'm so curious about what Ure's intentions were, here, regarding the boys' sexuality, and what she wanted to say about it.
