JUICE has just won the 2025 Rubery Fiction award in the YA category. It's set 30 years after climate and environmental collapse. Will has to trek the length of the country to Coal City to find his father. On the way he suffers fire, drought, dog attacks and imprisonment down a mine. He joins a circus as a sharp-shooter and teams up with (and falls in love with) Leonie - a beautiful young acrobat. Together they bring down Coal City's all-powerful tyrant.
