Peter Debik Great, you experienced exactly the right, intended feeling of the ending, triggered by the plot twist. You are practically experiencing what the people living in the dystopian world of the book feel. I'm also very pleased that you subconsciously recognized the allegory to Trump's USA. In fact, the despair about the catastrophic changes is reflected in the book. Take a look at the book's website, where numerous references are explained in detail in the FAQ and specialist articles.
Hopefully, other interested parties won't think it's only worth four stars, though. Thank you for your review anyway!

Liz Campbell You know that 4 stars is a GOOD rating right?

On Goodreads, the official meaning for each star rating is:
1 star: Did not like it
2 stars: It was okay
3 stars: Liked it
4 stars: Really liked it
5 stars: It was amazing

Peter Debik Of course I know that, and I’m genuinely so happy with how you received the book! ⭐ From decades of special interest marketing I also know how much those little stars can influence buy decisions. Most people only skim the written reviews and think, “Oh, just 4 stars” and move on to something that shows 5. But honestly, that’s not a problem here at all. Your review itself is wonderful, and I truly appreciate it. Thank you so much again!
