Great and honest review, hon. If I need to be bummed out then this is a book I’ll read. For now I’m staying clear. Thanks
I grabbed this for review a few months ago, then caught wind of just how depressing it was and it went on the no thank you pile. That angers me with Entangled, they never give readers the heads up on sensitive issues before you go in. And the cancer would have been a heavy no for me right now. Well said, hon xox
Aww sorry babe, but I totally get where you're coming from. I wasn't going to pick up this book for the same reasons. It's just to damn depressing. :(

Good choice, love. I'm so glad I read that spoiler. I would have been made me ragey if I'd pulled through until the end.

I don't have the foggiest idea why this book gets so many 5 star reviews.

I’m not surprised you were, it is. Nothing like a dose of reader manipulation eh *rolls eyes*.
I'm planning on reading this one, so hopefully I'll like it better. Sorry it was a miss, love. :/ GREAT, honest review! :) xo
Well stated. This sounds like the book of death. Not a book for me either. Thanks for your candid review.
I am so mad right now! How I wish I've read your review before reading the book. I just lost my baby and this book, poured salt on my wound. I can't even! Arrghhhh
I agree, I feel like the last 10% was not even needed, the book was finished, it d gave me a sense of impending doom even after I finished it, I'll still rate it a 3.5 at least.
I agree this book should def come with a trigger warning. This is not the type of book I like to read and will be giving it back to the library.
Yes! The last tragedy was exactly as you said it--tragedy for tragedy's sake. There was absolutely no point in having it at all!
It ABSOLUTELY should come with a warning. I’m just about a 1/3 in & I had no clue there was an deathly ill child involved in the story. I am enjoying the writing & the characters themselves so much, but I have this unshakable dread with what I sense is to come. I’m torn whether to finish. I just don’t find any entertainment value in romance novels with any variation of this type of trope. I’m not even a mother & it hurts my heart deeply, so I can’t even imagine how readers suffering that loss in any way, shape or form feel
Can’t agree more! That last thing just didn’t need to happen at all, it completely ruined what would have been a very good story and for no reason except to add an ironic, shock twist.
Thanks people.
I think we all wanted to love it. I suppose we are in the minority though because, damn, those ratings... lol
I couldn’t agree more. What could have been a heartfelt love story that was more than some insta love connection got cheapened by simply wanting a surprise factor! In my opinion the writer missed a great opportunity for a full circle moment with Beckett to directly save a child after he felt he took the life of one. Great writing and character building but the ending ruined my experience.
I dont know what kind if life the author is leading but the book is an over kill... towards the end i just wished everyone would die so the suffering would end...
I got tired of the inflexibility of Ella. I laughed out loud at some of the kids antics and having had a child older than his years, I could see it. I read to escape reality. It was good but I won’t read again.

LOL happens to me all the time!
I should have taken your word before picking this!!!
And yes you are absolutely right, I felt the same.
The last part was unnecessary and inappropriate.
I agree and disagree with you. I loved writing and story but last part almost killed and if I knew that was happening I would've stayed away from this book because it was too emotional. I just think it wasn't needed. whole day I'm thinking that I lost someone and that happened when you get attached to character. But other than that it was good read. Last part was unnecessary.
Some people totally have lives like this unfortunately, so it’s not that unrealistic. I can attest to that. This book honestly is for people who know and understand that suffering. Saying it’s unrealistic is a slap in the face to some people :(
I loved every word. The twist came out of nowhere and although it broke me I think it was perfectly written. I did wonder as a mum of twins was that somewhat the reason it got me so bad but I think regardless it would have got me. I gave it 5 stars and would highly recommend it to anyone.
For those of you complaining about the ending & it being unrealistic…you should thank your lucky stars that it feels unreal to you. There are mothers out there burying multiple kids in a matter of months, or years. Unfortunately this IS some people’s circumstances.
I loved this book, largely because it showcases how, unfortunately, there are peoples whose lives seem to take one hit after another and they have no choice but to attempt to “figure it out”, as Ella was so found of saying in this book.
I read A Little Life and I loved it. Tragedy was done well and tastefully there, in my opinion. This book just made it come out of left field just for shock factor. It wasn’t the most devastating twist but it was a confusing and unnecessary one. Not enough foreshadowing for it to make sense!
I disagree with you. There are people out there that have tragedies like this. And just because it doesn’t seem realistic to you does not mean it’s not realistic for others. You’re lucky to not go through what some have faced.
The last 10% of the book is just bullsh*t. It was unnecessary. I can’t decide if I want to finish it, and I was thinking it was 5 ⭐️ read up to that point. Now I’m just livid.
I totally agree. Most of the story I was like "ok, it's a lot but alright." And even I found that some themes were handled a bit poorly. But that last loss was just so unexpected and so useless. Nobody needed that. And they rebounded WAY TOO QUICKLY. It felt forced without a specific reason. It completely threw me off the story.
