I agree with you Flo. This was an okay book that could have been better. I don't know why it was shortlisted for the Booker Prize. Thank you for your thoughtful and fair review. ☺️
Best part of this book was early on when Tom described spending time in Wellfleet on Cape Cod (cause I love Wellfleet and he did capture its essence nicely). After that I slogged through it till the end, expecting the writing to capture my interest again, but that did not happen. Interesting you mentioned All Fours…I’d started that one but dnf. I would not have made it through this one either if the author hadn’t lured me in with Wellfleet.
