Greg I've seen four of his films, all require the viewer's full attention, but it's worth it if you're willing to put in the investment. I actually think Westfront 1918 is more effective movie than All Quiet.... Dammit. Another one I'll have to strongly consider for the never-ending tsonduku.

Lisa Lieberman You've sold me! Thank you for bringing a bit of light into the current darkness. Truth is a beautiful thing.

Thank you for adding to my vocabulary, Greg! And if you've seen four of Pabst's films, you need to read this book.

There is good cinematic writing and bad cinematic writing. This is the former, Lisa. I'll look forward to your review.

Robin Many great readers I know and trust love this book, and now that list includes you, Tony. Looks like I will have to read this. Did you by any chance read his Tyll? I read it and liked it, but I'm not passionate about it. Just curious to know how it might compare.

I liked this one much better, Robin. Both were well-written, but this one was more stimulating and I think will linger longer.
