Jane Buckley Hey you, I see your point. Totally. There is a warning at the start of the book. I guess when I first wrote Turmoil thinking it would be one book only, my premise was to educate, but demographically the readers of the series have turned out to be adults who have lived through the troubles, hence the warning. Can't argue with your point though, Jason. It is dark. JB

Jason Blean Thank you for your kind reply, Jane. My apologies - I missed the warning at the start of the book and have edited this review accordingly. Yes, the clue's in the title - darkness - perhaps I should n't be surprised there are a lot of graphic descriptions of abuse of all kinds I just found that difficult reading! Speaking as one who grew up "on the other side of the fence", a blind eye was often turned to many of the abuses you describe from our community & this was the first time I'd read about the abuses in Armagh Prison which shocked me.

Jane Buckley Hey you, it is horrible isn't it, you can imagine doing the research for it was daunting. I've revised Turmoil and its now out with a very strict warning too! Hope you're well. JB
