Happy reading, Marquise!
That is a lot of hype; I hope it does not disappoint. A coffee generously laced with bourbon might help.
I am super excited for this book, I've already pre-ordered the gorgeous hardcover. Fingers crossed it lives up to the hype and long wait! Longman isn't a new author though, he put out a YA trilogy starting in 2022. I keep meaning to try it, it has a teenage assassin!
That kind of hype is a tall order, I kinda feel bad for the author now. Hope you'll enjoy it at least!

I read my books always sober, but write my reviews . . . variably. 😂

Yeah, it's so very promising! I had no idea Longman had other books already, he is completely new to me and I'm hearing good things about his work.

Marketing depts go overboard in their effort to create hype, and it's often counterproductive. I do feel bad for the authors as well, too tall an order, and they do care whilst the publicity & marketing team is probably more "all publicity is good publicity, even bad publicity."

Oh thanks for clarifying it's the fairy tale. I'd have thought it was a residential estate 🤣
Oooh I missed this one altogether. Just ran over to NetGalley & requested: wish us both luck, I guess!

Not often can I say I found a book that mixes French knighthood with tales/legends, so it already has that in favour.

Excellent! Good luck to you too, my friend, and may you get an ARC. If you'd like maybe we could read together? I'm not going to start it soon, though, got lots on my plate (real life, not books).

Happy to read it together, real life and ARC backlog permitting!
