Lol.
I was going to say "that's how I would feel writing an introduction for any of my siblings" but I'm pretty sure I'm Emily in this scenario, and my siblings would be Charlotte like, "... unfortunately, here is her novel."

the shade... I'm weeping
I can't figure out if Charlotte believed that's what people EXPECTED her to say about Emily's book, or if this is truly what she thought?? She's the same way about Anne's book though, Wildfell Hall, "unfortunately my youngest sister was weird and her novel is weird :)"
Anne is the least weird of the Brontes, and probably my favorite of the three. I always chuckle when Charlotte apologizes for her sisters. Charlotte, your books are weird too. You are a Bronte, normal was never an option.

To be fair, it was probably easier to be like, "I, a totally normal woman who DOES NOT BELIEVE IN EQUAL RIGHTS (don't read into all my very progressive statements; I'm just a woman), CONDEMN this UNWOMANLY behavior ... buy these books anyways."
