Alastair Humphreys Hi there, I'm sorry that the book didn't resonate for you! (Understatement) My idea was to try to sow the seed for people that you can find nearby wild places, and squeeze in small adventures with the time and skills you happen to have. It was not supposed to be a formula / recipe - there are no maps in the book, for example. My aim was that people could use my experiences to think of ideas for their own lives. You're right - I don't live in a place where you'll get arrested or shot for sleeping on a hill... and therefore some of my book might not apply where you live. I'm sorry you found it no more than a pretentious British euphemism for a bike ride! You will, of course, have read in the introduction to the book that I was not claiming to have 'invented' anything - that we've all been riding our bikes and camping and having a good time all along. Anyway, I hope you've found some books you enjoyed instead, and I hope you get out and have lots of good microadventures too.
