Ranjani Ramachandran The more I think about it, the sadder it feels that Laurel never actually gets to fall in love. She skips the whole stranger-to-partner journey and just keeps waking up in the middle of someone else’s story. Even marriage here isn’t about love, it’s just about finding someone so you don’t have to face life alone. It reminded me of how people sometimes decide based on timing or tiredness rather than connection. Maybe that’s why the book feels so real in the end. It’s not about magic, it’s about the quiet exhaustion that comes with too many choices.
