Interesting that you consider this “mass appeal, commercial” lit. I wouldn’t have classified it that way. But I hope it does reach the masses!

The reason I said that, without giving away any plot, is that I think that it works on a purely surface plot level. If the reader is a deep thinker, then they can go down a few levels, but you don't need to be to appreciate the story.
