also the "revelations" at the end–if you could even call them that–are a personal pet peeve of mine. it's fine to draw lines between elements to show the reader "hey! look! it's all connected!" but the way it was done felt like the author trying to be like "LOOK HOW CLEVER I AM! DO YOU GET IT? DO YOU UNDERSTAND? WITNESS ME YOU IDIOT FOOL FOR I AM CLEVERER THAN YOU!"
like bro, chill. i get it. you already told me all of this. it's not a surprise to me, and it shouldn't be a surprise to Noemi. there have been clues throughout the entire novel about what Noemi needs to do, and the fact that it doesn't immediately occur to her upon being at the time and place that she needs to do something was something between bizarre and infuriating.
anyway i gotta stop writing about this before i end up changing my 2 star review to 1 star. it's not that bad, i swear. i'm just mad rn.
