Alli Great overview, thanks, I had a couple of his come from my library holds to read. It's always conflicting when you can tell the book is better quality than it translates.

James Thx Alli. Did you read any of them? Curious if it’s just me.

Alli @James just starting 'The Siege' , it's an intruging historical thriller (and maybe romance) but I can feel a kind of artificial barrier to immersing in the world he's built, not sure if that's his style (distant/cold) or the translator effect again...

James Oh that can be painful. Slightly awkward language. Lack of emotions. Yup. By 25% in you’ll hopefully know for sure if it will work. Good luck.

Richard There's a limit to the number of languages most people can learn, so since I can't read the classics in the original Hebrew, Greek, Latin, Italian, Spanish or Russian [insert any desired language here], I must make do with translations. If I am lucky, they are good, but it's always a calculated risk.

That being said, I have done some translation myself so I have some idea of how hard it can be.
