Barbara Nominations are now open for February, 2026!

So far, the authors exempt from nomination, since we've already selected one of their books this year, is Wanda Brunstetter, although we may make exceptions for novella collections that include one of these authors. If you're not sure if your book is eligible for nomination, please leave a comment and one of the moderators will get back to you!

Rules:
1. Any Amish-themed novel is eligible.
2. One nomination per person.
3. If two people nominate the same book, each person's vote counts. So the book will feature twice in the list to give each vote an equal chance.
4. Nominations run until the 14th of the month, with the winner announced on the 15th.
5. The winning book is chosen using Random.org to make it completely fair.
6. Please don't nominate a book we have already read. You can see our list of previous group reads here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... or look at the group read's bookshelf here: https://www.goodreads.com/group/books... (it includes the Christian group read as well).
7. Only nominate the first book in a series UNLESS we have already read #1 (see above link). In this case, #2 is then eligible for nomination!

Nominate away!!

#1. Into the Promised Land by Sarah Heatwole -- Sarah
#2. Into the Promised Land by Sarah Heatwole -- Katrina
#3. In-Between Girl (The Birchwood Inheritance Series, #1) by Sheelagh Aston -- Sheelagh
#4. Peanut Butter Panic (Amish Candy Shop Mystery #7) by Amanda Flower -- Natalie
#5. Amish Christmas Twins by Patricia Davids -- Raven
#6.

Sarah Heatwole Let me know if this isn't allowed =) I am a Mennonite author who recently published a book about my grandparents journey from Amish to Mennonite set mainly in the 1930's-1970's. It's a hybrid work of fiction and reads like fiction. I've gotten great feedback so far - see reviews on Goodreads and Amazon. I think this group would enjoy the perspective and I'd love to join a discussion live after the book is read. Thank you!Into the Promised Land

I can't see why it wouldn't be allowed. It's Amish. It's fiction. Thank you for letting us see a new book we might have missed otherwise!

Sheelagh Thanks Barbara .

Katrina Lybbert Just a note to mention that we already did Toxic Toffee as a group read in 2023, and the next two books as well, one in 2024 and one in 2025. If we did a group read for that series the next book we are at is Peanut Butter Panic # 7 in the Amish Candy Shop series. Would Natalie be okay updating her nomination?

You are right, Katrina. I didn't question Natalie's response because she's usually spot on. Yes, the next to read in the series is #7. Thanks for catching that. Since it's time to pick, I'm going to amend Natalie's nomination.

Sheelagh Wow! Thank you so much for the opportunity to share Hannah’s story with you all.

Sheelagh I thought it might be helpful to provide some information as to where you can obtain a copy of In-Between Girl from.
1. Amazon - available worldwide so you can order via your local site. Paperback and Kindle & KU.

2. Barnes and Noble - so availble in bookshops.

3. Ib, Wallmart. (There may be other US outlets you can get it from)

4. If you prefer you should be able to get a copy from your local library as it availbe via IngramSpark who supply most distributors who libraries order from.

Unfortunately I don't have a online shop so can't offer a discount to the group. Sorry.

I will be travelling around South Asia from 6th Feb until 1st March so may have limited access to the internet. I will post the questions here or in a dedicated thread if there is to be one at the end of January. I will do my best to drop in while travelling to answer/comment. I hope that is OK?
Blessings
Sheelagh

LauraP Hello. Not every member here are from the U.S! I am in Canada and cannot purchase this book. The only format is through Kindle at Amazon Canada. I like the good old-fashioned book. I have access through 2 library systems, and both have nothing dealing with the author.

message 21: by Sheelagh (new)

Sheelagh Hi LauraP

The book is available via Amazon's Canada Diana website
Here is the link.
https://www.amazon.ca/Between-Girl-Bo...

It should be available to libraries and bookshop via Ingramspark too. Let me know if you have any issues.

message 22: by Sheelagh (new)

Sheelagh I have checked, and it is available in Paperback at $19.99. I could post you one but it would be equally if not more expensive with p&p.

Sheelagh can someone please advise me when and where I should drop my questions for readers. Thanks.
