I don’t mean like, actively seeks out non-romance books, or won’t read anything with romance in it. But is there anyone who prefers books without romance?

No, I love romance and I think a good book needs at least a little romance. My favorite trope is enemies to lovers❤️. I don't like non-romanesque books. In my opinion, they can sometimes be good when it's unexpected plots, but it's better with romance
I generally don’t like books without romance. It has to have a PHENOMENAL plot for me to like it if it doesn’t have any romance.
im a big romance readerBUT
Not every book needs it!!!!!
chemistry between characters doesn't always have to be romantic,
I like a good romance novel, im big on romatasy
BUT give me a fantasy without romance im happy, if the only tension in a book is s-xual then the world building is poorly written
Same! I've stopped a few books because of smut being thrown in. Is that all there is to a book these days?

Tend to avoid any mention of it lately because it's shoved into every story or overshadows the entire story. I don’t mind if it's a side story but even on TV shows I get bored fast with the bedhopping smut.
I read pretty much all genres, though romance is one I have always gone up and down with. More so recently, I'm sometimes avoidant as the rise in spicy books. I just don't think that books need to be so vulgar and graphic, for the same reason I don't want to watch it, I don't want to read it either. There is nothing actually wrong with romance, I think it's great when a book has romantic elements part of the plot like in life, where its part of it and not the main subject.
Not a huge fan, I find it to be hit or miss as a genre. I like when there is a story to it, I find Nora Roberts does a great job with romance because there is a point to it. But most of the time I find the genre pretty mundane, which is so weird because I love watching romance movies =P
I like romance, but everything is so fast-food nowadays. I want unrequited love. Deep love where they both love each other, but can’t be together. I like total heartbreak. But alas, I think I’ll have to resort to classics :/
I don't mind when a book has a romance subplot, but I'm unlikely to read a story that focuses solely on romance. To me, romance is like salt. It's good when it's in soup. But I could hardly eat a whole plate of salt.
Honestly I don’t seek out romance books at alll, I generally try to avoid it, like if there a veeerrrryyyyy small amount of romance it would be okay, but I have never rated a romance book five stars, I feel if a book is all about the romance, then it’s just boring, and if I really want to read a romance novel, I’d just read a fanfic of my favorite ship, works every time
One of my friends actively avoids it but personally, I think all books should have at least a side love story
I prefer books that focus on other things other than romance most of the time, if it’s a side plot I don’t mind but I wouldn’t usually seek it out
I don’t personally care for romance! I will read it, but I prefer when it adds to the story and isn’t the entire point of the story. I’m struggling to read It Ends With Us right now because it’s just way too much smut. I’m okay with some action, but my god does it really have to be every chapter in great detail? Leave some things to the imagination!
What @Sierra said 👏🏼👏🏼 I like it when it’s added to the story but not when the story it’s only about romance 🥴🥴 I’m not a romantic person anyway
