message 1: by Acey (new)

Acey Reeves I think this is a valid reason, unless the grammar is an integral part of the story like in the color purple for example. otherwise, ew.

message 2: by Kaila.Books (new)

Kaila.Books He’s a cowboy so…. Integral? Lol

message 3: by Amy (new)

Amy W. Definitely took me a minute to get over the grammar, but I needed an easy escape and this was it.

message 4: by Tricia (new)

Tricia This is why I haven't started this series yet. I saw some dialog somewhere that indicated this and I can't stand it! I don't care if they are cowboys, it's just "ick" to me. I was hoping it was a one off, but seems not.

message 5: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Harger Elsie silver has some great cowboy romance options with proper grammar if my memory is serving me. No need to suffer!

message 6: by SK (new)

SK This book is so poorly written 😭😭😭

message 7: by Kylee (new)

Kylee I want cowboys, but I don’t want cowboys who talk like that 🤣

message 8: by Kymber Layne (new)

Kymber Layne I’m from the south so this sounds like everyday speech to me. 😅

message 9: by Allison (new)

Allison Young I nearly quit one the other day as they kept using further... when they meant farther. It's such a small thing, but it really irked me.

message 10: by Jill (new)

Jill Delgado Agree with Lauren…run to read Elsie Silver’s Chestnut Springs series. One of my all time faves.

message 11: by Danielle (new)

Danielle Fleck This is NOT a good cowboy romance. I agree with Elsie silver Rec

message 12: by Aprile (new)

Aprile I’ve DNF’ed for less

message 13: by Laurel (new)

Laurel Bad grammar makes me ragey. DNF the book then make it go stand in the corner with a “dunce” hat.

message 14: by Book Kandy (new)

Book Kandy As an ESL Teacher, this is a big no-no for me! Lol

message 15: by LeshaD (new)

LeshaD Mylene Absolutely not... I personally feel if you can't get past the language how can you get into the story?

message 16: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie C Unless the intent is to show the character is un educated, otherwise I would DNF.

message 17: by Booked Thru June (new)

Booked Thru June It was a struggle for me for the exact same reason

message 18: by Kate (new)

Kate Copeseeley Oh no. I might, depending on the context. I feel like I would be more forgiving if it was set in an earlier time period?

message 19: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Meyers I would DNF too lol

message 20: by kpren (new)

kpren This also irked me.

message 21: by K (new)

K Ehoff Poor grammar is an instant DNF for me.

message 22: by Marina (new)

Marina D Nooo, the series is really nice!

message 23: by Mary (new)

Mary Robinson That would PMO so bad

message 24: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Gervais This is the worst of the serie... I mean most of the serie wasn't that amazing anyway.
I feel like it's a sort of slang from Texas and cowboys but it totally irked me the whole way through..

message 25: by Liz (new)

Liz Keep going!! It’s a good series. You’ll like it!

message 26: by Niki (new)

Niki Wente I had such a hard time with this book 🫣 people say it’s amazing butttt I can’t say I agree. I almost DNFd like 10 times.

message 27: by Cassie (new)

Cassie Bufkin I dnfed at 71% over a condom situation lol

message 28: by Katie (new)

Katie Hodge Valid. It was an ick as soon as I read the quote.

message 29: by Breanne (new)

Breanne Baker No 😂

message 30: by Blythe (new)

Blythe Manuel I DNFed right around the same mark. It just felt like the author was going too hard with a sophisticated city girl vs an unworthy ignorant uneducated country bumpkin cowboy. I hate that trope and it just makes me hate the know-it-all FMC.

message 31: by Meech (new)

Meech Brikshavana I actually DNF’ed this book a few months ago. Not my cup of tea.

message 32: by Melinda (new)

Melinda Carrie I support a DNF for this reason!! Totally valid

message 33: by Miguel (new)

Miguel Nieves Marrero dnf it for sure. unless it’s an arc you are reading, reviewing, and correcting, it’s not worth it. i’m not an english major but i dnf quick when i struggle to get through the chapter because of errors.

message 34: by Marie (new)

Marie I’ve listened to this series, and I think that made it more palatable? I love this series! When I need a silly dirty romp between heavier reads, I’ll listen to one of these. 😂

message 35: by Kayla (new)

Kayla I had to DNF also; I tried audio and it was just so slow. Nothing happened for 40% of the book so I gave up.

Jessica Henderson The first book in the series was hard to get into the second book and the last book In this series is better!

message 37: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Flatley You know I’m southern cause I didn’t see the problem
