Nancy Fantastic review, Rosh! I find it so interesting reading about the debunking of theories. Now I’m really curious which one of the five pop psych ideas has proven evidence. I’ll message you on IG to find out which one. ❤️

Canadian Jen I’m not a fan of this genre go figure my degree is in psychology and criminology. I always appreciate the science behind but think I’ve had my full of it. Glad this one delivered more than you expected. It’s a well thought out review, Rosh!

Thanks, Nancy! 💖 Given how popular those 5 ideas are, I was really surprised that only one has established evidence. Ping me on Insta whenever you want to know the answer. :)

Given your credentials, I sure would have expected you to grab this, Jen. :D But I get ya... I wouldn't have taken it were it not for my curiosity about how much BS the self-help sector actually contains. The book does a great job in that regard.

Jayme C (Brunetteslikebookstoo) I am curious which of those statements is the one with evidence because I have been “taught” that they all are true! Intriguing review!

Alessandra Bassi Intriguing review, Rosh!

message 7: by Berengaria (new)

Berengaria It's the Confirmation Bias that's the real one, I'll bet. I know the learning styles one isn't because of having been a teacher and the others seem quite dubious (and I just don't like affirmations!)

Thank you for including the tone of this work because too often, I've found, "debunker" books are written by arrogant, self-righteous people who have a hard core scientific-atheist POV and declare everyone a silly child who doesn't believe exactly the same things they do. Glad to hear this one doesn't go in for snooty shaming!

Dale Harcombe Terrific review Rosh.💜

message 9: by Darla (new)

Darla Intriguing review, Rosh! Sounds like a excellent book for keeping our minds agile.

message 10: by Dutchie (new)

Dutchie Fantastic review, Rosh! This isn’t my go to genre either. I listen to memoirs sometimes and as soon as they start leaning towards self help I end up DNFing. Only one of those pop psych theories is proven?🤔

Srivalli Rekha Oh, this sounds like such a cool read. I'll have to add it to my TBR. They organized it well and didn't go overboard with the deets.
Superb review, Rosh. 🧡

Thibault Busschots Glad it delivered what it promised, and that it was eye-opening and interesting, despite it not really being your genre.

21 days to form a habit? I don’t know. I would have guessed 14 days that would be enough.

And yay to brainstorming, if my brain doesn’t have to brace itself for the storm :)

Cool that you gave this a shot, and liked it. Good review, Rosh.

Shelley's Book Nook Fascinating review, Rosh. I'm not a fan of self help books either. 🤗💕

Faerie This sounds fascinating. Fantastic review, lovely! ♡♡

message 17: by Donne (new)

Donne I'm going to take a wild stab and say that the Confirmation Bias is the true statement. Great review too!
