Clever, creative review. I loved the line The man she’s spent YEARS poking like he’s a malfunctioning vending machine that owes her snacks.
“Two raccoons fighting over a shiny object” and “a catastrophic idea dipped in a nuclear idea” may now be my favorite descriptions of Kane and Vera ever.
And honestly, the fact that beneath all the feral chaos you picked up on what this story is really about — Vera finally allowing herself to want the intensity she’s been told is too much, and Kane seeing that part of her so clearly — means more than I can say.
Thank you for taking Suite 7 into your velvet-lined fever dream and somehow making me want to read my own book again.
Also: “feral enough to leave claw marks on your soul” deserves to be framed.
