Laura Literally what even was this Story. I’ve loved every Dessen book and this was such a let down

message 2: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Koshak Yes to all of this.

message 3: by Jenn (new)

Jenn I’m currently reading and YES. 1. Bored. 2. So confused as to who all of these characters are to each other.

message 4: by Marcia (new)

Marcia There is an epilogue… or a bonus chapter based in the fall.

Oh! I read an ARC, so that must have been added in. I'll have to grab a finished copy.

Thanks!

Renee The Barnes & Noble special edition has the bonus chapter in it! It at least ties up as few things but honestly I would’ve been kind of confused without it.

message 7: by Lauren (new)

Lauren I wrote a similar review. I didn't know there was an epilogue/bonus chapter (I read the ebook), and honestly that might've changed my poor opinion of the ending. I'm pretty mad it's not included in all the versions, actually.

message 8: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Gemmati THANK YOU OMG! Ben was getting on my NERVES, and I agree the ages didn’t match up to the characters. Also didn’t realize Clark was even a cousin until you pointed it out so thanks for that as well. I wanted this book to be over so bad I honestly blew past the lack of ending for the house and cancer storyline. That’s how bad this book was.

I looked at a copy at my library and it didn't have the bonus chapter. Must be a Barnes and Noble exclusive

message 10: by Kelly (new)

Kelly I fully agree with this. I am a diehard Sarah Dessen fan and, sadly, the magic was missing here. Also, I preordered a hardcover of the book from Amazon and there was no epilogue. I feel like that that should’ve been included in all copies if it was so important to tying up the story. So disappointing.

message 11: by Alysha (new)

Alysha Kocon The audiobook apparently doesn't contain the epilogue. I was SO confused by the abrupt ending as well.

message 12: by Emily (new)

Emily I read the Kindle and there was no epilogue. I thank you for writing this review so I don’t have to! This one just really missed the mark and I was an older reader back in the day and really enjoyed those books so I think this one just missed the mark.

message 13: by Amy (new)

Amy Yes! No resolution drove me crazy. All the plot threads left completely open. The house, Finley's choice of college, Cat (the illness, the new romance, the rekindled family connections), Ben and the romance, Anne and her MIL, etc. I get that the point was plans abruptly change but that doesn't mean the ending can't feel satisfactory to readers.

message 14: by Izzy (new)

Izzy Woods okay thank you! just how i felt and you are NOT on your own with the Owen thing - I literally had to stop and think about how Owen & Colin were friends and it completely took me out of the story!!!

message 15: by Elise (new)

Elise Buchheit Wait, Clark is a cousin as in Marshall was their brother? I did not catch that at all. At times I thought maybe Kasey and Marshall had been together, but that Clark has already been a like kid by then. I was imagining Clark as Black?

I could not agree more with this review. I appreciate you listing the similar titles because I hadn’t had time to go back and pin point them.

I wonder if some of the messiness could have been overlooked if the love story had been better. I kept waiting for the connection to show up.

message 16: by Emily (new)

Emily Barth I was disappointed by the handling of the breast cancer plot. There were some pretty basic medical things that should have been addressed better. Can anyone share what the bonus chapter reveals about the mom’s cancer?

I think you are right about Clark. He's like an adopted cousin.
