message 20: by Fran (new)

Fran Karen...When I started to read your review I thought, same old, the story of a cello that passed from hand to hand over time. What a surprise revelation..."the artistry of the instruments and physical settings of this historical mystery (brought) vividly to life... integration of the real Guarneri family adds another layer of authenticity to the fiction." Wow! A magnificent review!

Renata Annese This sounds fascinating! I love the mix of mystery, history, and the story behind the instrument. The dual timeline and the question of whether the cello is authentic definitely make this one sound intriguing. Great review! 📚✨

message 29: by Pia G. (new)

Pia G. Karen, I love books that leave you sitting with questions like this, because I’m not sure the truth is always automatically liberating. Sometimes it gives people a way forward, but sometimes it tears apart everything they built just to survive what happened. That tension between knowing and being able to live with what you know is really interesting to me. Lovely review!

message 30: by Tracy (new)

Tracy Greer-Hansen Excellent thoughts on this Karen. I am adding it!

message 31: by Candy (new)

Candy Lovely review and timely as we had an old violin we just gave to someone. It was my husband’s uncle, and we had such a good time reminiscing with the new owner the joy that it had bought to family celebrations over the years. I’ll add to my list and mention to the new owner.

message 32: by Marijke (new)

Linda Galella As this isn’t your usual fare, you’ve nailed a spectacular review and highlighted the elements of HF that I find so compelling. This one is being moved to the TOP of my TBR📚
