Thank you for your quick response. I haven't really written fan fiction based off of books/series (though I wrote "fan fic" of a band when I was a teen). This question was prompted by my 10 yr old daughter asking me to try fan fiction after I said I was sad that certain series had ended. She has written her own story and plans to continue an arc, but we have had no plans to try to publish it :)
