My grandfather was an inmate at San Quentin in CA during the 30's and 40's...are you planning on writing anything about the prison that believed in surgically altering inmates in order to rehabilitte them??
That sounds like a great topic. I'd love to pursue the subject further. Do you have any information about surgical alterations?
The research I have "lightly" done due to proximity - I now live in TX - mentioned castration as one of the possible "cures" for what was considered sexual deviant behavior. Many of the inmates volunteered for the procedure - it was looked at being experimental. I would love to find out more. My grandfather became a #.
