thank you, Gigi, for responding to my answer to your question. i write mostly poetry now because, well, just because i don't seem to have the energy to tackle long manuscripts anymore. here is one of my bird poems. hope you like it. stay safe in our grim world. John

Hi John, thank you, that's a nice one. We don't have the Woodpecker here in Australia. Like to read something about a condor? and a challenged girl, as they made friends. lots of adventure when Talon hatches, as she saved the egg from poachers. You would love the story. and it will relax you. would love if you get them and write me a review as well. Thank you so much. have a great day, take care
good morning from Tucson, Arizona, Gigi. like most life-long readers, i have a stack of books yet to be read and the pile never seems to get smaller. i'll be 80 soon and don't read as much as i once did, but i'll certainly try to get to your book, Talon, as soon as i can. i hope you sell a jillion, thousand, hundred of them. stay safe and sane in this most crazy world of ours. John
This poem, Wonderments, that i wrote a couple of years ago, tries to explain my thoughts on the value of reading and observing. hope you like it.
Wonderments and Such
Children should discover
the tales of Robin Hood,
Hansel and Gretel,
Snow White
and many others of course,
but also,
they need to visit beaches
and get down on their knees to play
in the sand.
For it is there they will
begin to imagine
how many uncountable
grains of sand
must cling to the edges
of our world.
And thus,
when they turn their
gaze to the night sky
they will also
wonder
how many stars
must torch all corners
of our Universe.
And so too,
these story tellings,
these imaginings,
these wonderments,
will help them
peek inward
and examine themselves
with a much greater
sense of humility.

Hi John, i love that. it says all what it should say for children. And hey, book 1 of my Talon series, is free. if you like to get your foot into it. do you need the link or can you find it in amazon? Let me know.
i don't own a kindle reader or any other electronic reader as i much prefer the old-fashioned paper books. i will get to your Talon series as soon as i can. do you use Twitter to market your books? have a nice day. john
That would be great, thank you. Yes, I use twitter as well, as Facebook, mostly. and some others. Are you on Facebook?

morning, Gigi. i am active on Facebook and Twitter, mostly as a way to keep my book titles and poems alive lest they just drift off into obscurity. i like the arts section of Twitter to view all of the wonderful artwork of the world and sometimes to comment on especially beautiful ones. about 4,000 people from around the world follow my Twitter account and some of them seem to like my poetry so that keeps me going. i'm lucky if Amazon sells ten books of mine for me in a quarter, and my writing, once serious, has become more of a hobby than an enterprise. stay safe. john
Hi John
that is what i am doing as well, posting my books, advertising in some groups, so the people are always aware, that i am still there with my books. and hopefully, one day, they well finally get it. Well, just now, book 1 is permanent free, in the hope, they will go on buying the next books. Don't know, if it really works, but my publisher was suggesting it. It's a try. because she thinks my books are why to good, for not to be read. But people think different, looks like.
I don't do much in twitter. all in facebook. don't know really twitter. no one is liking my posts there, so i don't bother. Take care.
morning, Gigi. i'm definitely going to buy your first book on Amazon, and give it a go. i know exactly the feeling you have wondering why more people aren't interested in my writing. i gave away books here on Goodreads as a way to promote my titles, but the last time i did that, not a single one of the people who got a giveaway bothered to write a review for me, so i gave up on that idea. i got the feeling some people just use the system to get free books and re-sell them in garage sales or on E-Bay. don't give up your writing. even after six years i still sell a book now and then. stay safe. john
Hi John, my first book is free, in the hope that people go and get the next books. But i am not sure, if it works. i was told, that around 800 people downloaded it, but not one review. Don't know if it works. and if they continue to get the books. but i try for a while anyway. It stands on first place of free books. Paper back is not free. I advertised ones, that when they like to have the books free but they must leave a review. no one wanted it.
Take care. so i don't know, if it works. But thank you for getting my book and hopefully will leave a review. thank you
morning, Gigi. i bought the paperback version of your first novel Talon yesterday from Amazon. like most readers and writers, i am in the middle of two novels now, but will get to your story soon and will leave a nice review when i've finished it. writing is a very difficult and lonely business and i think we need to support each other whenever we can. take care. if you get a chance check out my Twitter account and you'll find that i have an unusual way of advertising my books. whether it works or not, who knows? stay safe john
Hi John,
Thank you so much for getting my first book as paper back. Much appreciated. Hope you like it as well. and maybe go on with the series.
Yes, i agree with the supporting of other writers and that is what i am doing, trying anyway. but Hartley get any other support back. but it's okay.
I tried to find you in twitter, but couldn't sorry. can you please give me your link? Thank you so much
morning, Gigi. i find that one sale, one five star rating, or one positive review revives my belief that i am a good story-teller after all, and my writing spirit is uplifted once more. very few of us become famous or rich from our work, but we all add something important to the literature. my Twitter link is @etunner and i hope you will visit me there from time to time. stay safe. John
Morning John,
You know, book 1 is free as kindle for around 2 month now, and not one review more. Not much sales for the other books either. as much as i can see. in the first month, they told me, there were 800 downloads. now where are the reviews? My publisher believes that's the way to go. i don't after seeing no reviews. well, i guess we have to go on, and write down, what our heads are telling us, in the hope one day, someone will like it and write a review. Yes i have a lot of 5 star reviews for the books, but they are nearly all dating back to 2014 i think. in that time people still got books and wrote reviews. Today? Yes, it would so much uplift me again, when someone would write a 5 star review.
Okay, thank you, will go to twitter and will follow you, have you found my twitter? https://twitter.com/GigiSedlmayer
Have a wonderful day. Thank you for talking to me, it's always lifts me up and let me going on.

good morning, Gigi. we're getting a bit of rain here this morning, very rare and unusual for Arizona. i'm reading one of Charles Dickens stories, The Old Curiosity Shop, at the moment, but i'm looking forward to starting your book in the next few days. Amazon delivers very fast here and i should get it in a day or two. before Covid i bought most of my books used from book stores or garage sales, but now i
buy almost everything from Amazon so i don't go out as much. i've had both Covid shots, Pfizer, and wear a double mask when i do go out, but i want to protect myself and others as much as i can. i hope you have a wonderful day, one filled with delicious food, laughter, birdsong, and warm hugs from all those you love. take care. john
Hi John good morning to you. Well, thank you for that, yes i will get all that, good food, laughter, birdsongs, we love our birds here, and warm hugs. all back to you as well, but the weather? Well, we are in the rainy time, okay, but so much rain? That's enough, i would say. I am happy that you have the Covid shots, here we have to wait, until when? I don't know. it putting further back every day. don't know what they are doing and why. I only hope, it will be soon. Yes, i do buy my books from amazon.com always, not from amazon, com.au, they don't have the books i like. Take care.
You know, when i read your books about the wind turbines and what they do to birds, i was shocked. yes, never thought about it, they would be so dangerous for birds, but i can see it. I am actually fascinated about them. We have them too here, and love to see them, when we drive through them. well, not when i see them i pray, that the birds avoid them and go around them. All the best, take care. hugs from rainy Australia, normally sunny Australia. Yeah, where is the sun? Haven't see it for days. Hugs Gigi

morning, Gigi. you understand how the mind works when you're telling a story and you need to create a certain situation or introduce a predicament. when i was writing the Odyssey story i began it with the idea of something bad happening to their teacher, most likely having to do with crows, but then the snowstorm and then the windmills, and well stuff happens in our minds that we have little or no control of. i didn't want to kill any of the hawks or even the crows, but my mind took me there and that's what happened. meanwhile, today is St. Patrick's Day and i, being Irish to the bone (i was adopted shortly after birth, but my DNA is pinpointed in Ireland and my birth surname is Boyle) i will be celebrating it with a corned beef and cabbage with red potatoes dinner all washed down with a gentle Irish beer called Harp. that will sustain me through this day and we will worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. i hope you too have some of the Irish in you, we all do really, and have a wonderful day. stay safe. John
Hi John, i don't know if i have Irish blood in me, but that sounds wonderful, what you said. Enjoy.
And yes, it happen with me as well, when i am writing my Talon books. When i start writing, i never know, where the story lead me. and then, whatever it happened, i cry for what i have written, or laugh. It's wonderful to let your mind free and create something wonderful.
I gut an email today from BOOK EXCELLENCE AWARD, that book 6, TALON, WINDSONG
Sorry don't know what happen. won an award and a medal. Finalist, between hundreds entrants from around the world. it's so amazing. i am WOW. thank you. See the books are good, i won it for book 1 as well. now i will have 2 medals. Love it.
Have a wonderful day and take care
Morning, Gigi. congratulations on the awards, proof that others enjoy and admire your writing talents. i once won a writing honor for a short story i wrote, but that's the only recognition i've ever received. the nice thing about the award was it came with a 750 dollar prize. if you'd care to read it it's posted on my blog and titled Cursive, Circa 1948. i've entered some of my poetry in writing contests, but have never won any honors for them. it's disappointing, but there are so many writers in this big world we live in it's very hard to distinguish ourselves. that's why your honor is so wonderful. stay safe. i hope the sun shines on you today and lightens all of your burdens. John
Hi John
Thank you, i was surprised as well, i had forgotten, that i have put book 6 there for the award. so it was a double surprise for me. a wonderful one. Well, i do have several. the people they do the awards, always love my books, they say, it will increase the sale. But i have never seen it. but it's good for me. i got it and i know, my books are wonderful. hehehe. I will get a price packet worth about $ 1000.00, with a medal as well. and things how to advertise ones book. so will be interesting.
yes, finally we see the sun again, it's so wonderful and it's getting warmer, but it won't last long. tomorrow it should rain again, well, we are in the rainy time. Hope the sun is shining on you. all the best. please give me your blog link so i can read it. Take care Gigi
good morning, Gigi. your book came in the mail yesterday afternoon and i read a few pages this morning just to get it started. so far i've been introduced to the two young children, one who is a girl and seems to have a growth issue, and her four year-old brother who is protective of his younger sister. i also know now that the setting for the story is Peru, not Australia as i had imagined. i've never been to either country so this will be a nice visit to a faraway place for me. i think you can google my blog with j's poetry blog. there are about 100 poems there i've written the last few years and a few short stories sprinkled in as well. i hope you have a most lovely day. stay safe. john
Hi John, good morning to you. Thank you for letting me know that you got my book. well now, i hope you like it as well and will get the next books. I haven't been in Peru but spend 3 day, in that time, when i started to write the books, was nothing in Internet about the condors or Peru, so i spend 3 days in the Library to get to know the people, the condors and their behaviours, the land and everything.
okay will try to find it.
today i got my digital Certificate for book 6. A medal will come by post. Can't wait, but it will take a while, since it's coming from America.
All the best Gigi
good morning, Gigi. curious minds and willing researchers make good story tellers. like you on Peru and condors, i didn't know very much about hawks when i began writing Red-tailed Rescue, but there is plenty of information about them on the internet if you're willing to take the time necessary to learn about them. it was great fun actually deciding which facts to include and which to emphasize and which to discard as unnecessary. i take it you're bilingual with more than one language residing in your mind. i have but one and i've spent a lifetime reading and writing in it, as well as teaching it for my career. great fun, really. i'm glad your writing has earned you some honors that are very hard to come by. stay safe. have a lovely day. john
Hi John, I don't know if it will really work so people will be curious and buy the books, because of getting the Awards. Not more sales, as i can see. Lots of gratulations and well done and all that. But how about getting the books? Well, at least i am proud of them and it gives me the reassurance, the books are good, otherwise, they won't give me the awards. You know, when people finally get my books, they are surprised and most the reviews are 5 stars. Yes, there are plenty of information now in the Internet about Peru and the condors. But not in that time, when i started to write.
It's still raining here. Flood everywhere, but we are okay. But the thing is, it's only coastal rain and the dames are not getting anything, they are only half full or less.
Well have a wonderful day, i have to go shopping now, in the rain. fun. Take care Gigi
Matica and her father have approached the nest and watched as two poachers climbed up to view it. i think a decision has been made for her to somehow take the egg to keep it safe from the poachers. i also started reading a story yesterday called H is for Hawk by Helen MacDonald, a Brit. i only got one chapter in, but it seems to be about the death of her father and goshawks, a type of hawk we don't have here in the U.S. interesting story so far. i wish we could get some of your rain here in Tucson as we have had drought conditions for several years and all the rivers have dried up. also we are fighting racism against Asians and new Covid outbreaks, so we have plenty of problems here too. stay safe. john
Hi John, we are sick of the rain, all is so muddy, but we are good with flood. no flood here, only our drive way is a river, going down to the easement. Washing is not drying, don't have a dryer. all is damp. when will it end? glad to send some of the water to you. We had drought before too, but now? even they say, it won't brake the drought. so will see, how it will go on.
Just came back from the dentist. in pouring rain, of course. He is happy. i had a very nasty trip and fall last year in November. I thought my yaw was broken. after the fall, on congrid, i couldn't close my mouth. but it went better. went straight to the dentist. he fixt some loose teeth and hoped that was it. The last 3 month was just healing time. had to eat toast with knife and forge.
Well, he is very happy, all looks healthy. and i am so happy. Not broken. just bruised.
I am happy you like my story.
Take care. Gigi
morning, Gigi. sorry to hear about your fall, but it sounds like the dentist has everything fixed now. i've finished the first 30 pages of your story, up to the point where the young girl and the male condor have become friends and are getting to know each other a little bit. it's all very nice and your descriptions of the condor make it clear to the reader. i try to build interest in my writing by posting a new poem on Twitter, Facebook, and my blog each day. it gives me something positive to do each morning, but my system doesn't;t sell very many books. such is life. stay safe. i hope you have a dry and lovely day. john
Hi John, Thank you for letting me know, and that you like my story so far. After the incredible rain we had, the sun is out but it's now high humidity. but nice to see the sun again. I try to advertise my award and hope that people will check it out and will buy the books. But, the reality is different. Even with the free first book, no new reviews either. so, it's a hard time, i guess and i thought, because of the pandemic and people had to stay home, they would buy more books, but it's not. I think everyone is in the same boot. but i have seen that people buy romance books. Hmm. don't read them.
have a wonderful day and stay safe and have a wonderful day
Morning, Gigi. i read somewhere that most novels sell less than 100 copies. unless someone is famous there is very little chance of selling very many books. there are exceptions of course. for example the Harry Potter books, and like you say, some romance novels, but i suspect compared to the number of romance novels written, very few become best sellers. there are a lot of lonely people in the world so perhaps romance sells a little better than hawk or condor stories, but we do the best we can, and take comfort in being published writers at all. i wish there was some good advice i could offer you, but there doesn't seem to be any magic formulas for selling books. i hope the sun warms your face today, the dark clouds slide away, and your smile widens to all you meet. stay safe. john
Hi John, thank you so much for your uplifting words. I really needed it. and yes, you are right with the selling. Even Awards don't do anything more for the selling, or even have a book for free.
Yes, the sun is shining, the rain is over, for now. I actually has plant more books in the series, but i will now finish the series with book 7 i am writing now. We are retired anyway, my husband as well. so i do that only, to kill the day. But again, i love it. I have done so much in my life already, it's time then to have a rest. After that nasty trip and fall, i have to slow down anyway. All the best for you and take care and stay safe. Gigi
hi, Gigi. happy Friday and a good weekend to you. read more of your story this morning. the poachers are being attacked by the condors, just what they deserve. it's too bad some people put money above nature and everything else. we have another blue skies kind of day here, but also a cool wind which made my eyes water when i took my morning walk after breakfast and coffee. i hope all is well with you and all those you love. stay safe. john
Morning John, Well, happy Saturday here, just put my washing out and guess what, it started to rain, the sun was shining a minute ago. well, hope it won't be much. No, it stopped again. Good. Greedy people are everywhere. so my story is not only for handicapped people, that they can be what they want to be, it is for the environment as well, to look after our wonderful earth, with everything in it. I hope that people, they read it, will see it.
Okay it stopped again. But no sun yet. will be good.
Have a wonderful day, weekend. And don't forget to say i love you to your loved ones. It might be their last day. Even to your cat or dog. Take care
good morning, Gigi. it's still early here, the skies dark and the house and streets silent. last night i was able to read more of your story up to the point where the condor's egg has been rescued from the mountaintop and returned safely to the village far below. all interesting developments. like you, my son spent one year in a Munich gymnasium while living with his grandparents who worked for the Boeing Company in Munich. it was very difficult for him because of the language barrier, but he coped as best he could and came out the other side okay. since you did your laundry today i'll share a poem i wrote about a year ago with you. i hope you like it. stay safe. John
Preparations
She who washes clothes a Saturday
and hangs them out to dry,
carries the sweetness of a flower's scent
into a Sunday pew,
muting the faint odor of her pungent man
and Grandmother’s musty Bible.

from the Wonderments and Such collection
Hi John, Nice one. i like it. thank you.
Well, my father worked in Boeing He was an aircraft engineer, my sister worked there as well until she retired. Interesting, that your son was working there as well. So, we have more in common than we think.
Gut that you still love my story.
Sunshine today, warm, like summer. nice. But pool water is too cold to go for a swim, because the nights are getting cooler.
Take care. It's lunch time. Gigi

Amazon delivers very fast here and i should get it in a day or two. before Covid i bought most of my books used from book stores or garage sales, but now ibuy almost everything from Amazon so i don't go out as much. i've had both Covid shots, Pfizer, and wear a double mask when i do go out, but i want to protect myself and others as much as i can. i hope you have a wonderful day, one filled with delicious food, laughter, birdsong, and warm hugs from all those you love. take care.

John
Hi JohnThank you, i was surprised as well, i had forgotten, that i have put book 6 there for the award. so it was a double surprise for me. a wonderful one.
Take care
good morning, Gigi. it's still early here, the skies dark and the house and streets silent. last night i was able to read more of your story up to the point where the condor's egg has been rescued from the mountaintop and returned safely to the village far below. all interesting developments. like you, my son spent one year in a Munich gymnasium while living with his grandparents who worked for the Boeing Company in Munich. it was very difficult for him because of the language barrier, but he coped as best he could and came out the other side okay. since you did your laundry today i'll share a poem i wrote about a year ago with you. i hope you like it. stay safe. She who washes clothes a Saturday
and hangs them out to dry,
carries the sweetness of a flower's scent
into a Sunday pew,
muting the faint odor of her pungent man
and Grandmother’s musty Bible.

Hi John, Nice one. i like it. thank you.Well, my father worked in Boeing He was an aircraft engineer, my sister worked there as well until she retired. Interesting, that your son was working there as well. So, we have more in common than we think.
Gut that you still love my story.
Sunshine today, warm, like summer. nice. But pool water is too cold to go for a swim, because the nights are getting cooler.
Take care. It's lunch time. Gigi

But thank you for answering. I thought as much, that you have an encounter or thought about that. It was an amazing story.
You probably would enjoy my talon books as well. Book one is free, if you like to check them out. Because i think you love birds. Talon is a condor.
Take care
