I won a writing contest for L.A. County in high school. It was all about my heartbreak of breaking up with my boyfriend. My English teacher loved it and submitted it to the contest. I not only didn't tell my parents I won, I never kept a copy, because it made me sad to read it. The real tragedy is that I should have kept up writing, but I am not a grandmother and I've lost a lot of writing time. Damn it!
