However, this was not the context you included when using the word in the story. Ellie refers to herself as the crippled girl. Her best friend tells her not to use "the crippled card". I wish you had shown this pride when using the term in the novel. Without explaining the use of the word, young readers may consider it acceptable to call someone with a physical disability, crippled. Heidi
