Ahhh, another missing part of my education. Hee hee, I am working to recover my high school /church Latin . Bought a copy of The Hobbit in that language.
Good luck with the Latin! The simpplest way to think of the timescale is this: Aristotle taught Alexander the Great, who is far removed from Pericles, who lived at the same time as Socrates.
Or the other way is to know the order of teachers. Diotima taught Socrates. Socrates taught Plato, who started the official school. Plato taught Aristotle. So Diotima (and Nico) to Aristotle is about four generations.
