At first, I thought it was a plane. As it got closer, I started checking for video cameras on the wings. When I turned to look at the right wing, instead of a camera, I saw a hand.
That’s when I looked further, expecting to see the nose of the plane... but instead, I saw a head.
A being.
Slowly, it turned its head toward me. Our eyes met. We made direct visual contact.
I panicked. I closed my eyes.
My first thought: I hope he didn’t see me. The next: He saw me… that’s why he turned his head. Then: What is he doing while my eyes are closed?
And just before I opened my eyes, one last thought struck me:
Mistake. Never close my eyes again.
When I finally looked… he had moved. He had taken a right while my eyes were closed.
Now, he was in front of me but with his back turned toward me. I could see his feet, hovering at the same altitude—3.5 meters—near the tree branches.
He was heading toward the church.
I didn’t wait. I turned left and ran straight down the middle of the street, toward the city center.
For a long time, I didn’t say anything. Who would believe me?
But after everything I’ve learned over the years… I know what I saw.
