Master and Commander had a 22 year wait for the final book in its series.
We've been waiting 14 years for The Winds of Winter to come out, but that is not even the last of George R. R, Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire!
The wait for Alan Garner's Boneland was 49 years, though I will confess my wait was probably less than 40 years and I did not even know to expect it.
I read The Door Into Fire by Diane Duane in 1979. In 1992, I read the 3rd book in her Tales of the Five, The Door into Sunset. In 2018, I read The Landlady, set in that sequence, but not yet the final book. The Door Into Starlight is forthcoming, real soon, now. (And I will gobble it up when it comes out, after rereading the others.)
So, sure, I wish The Dragon Armada were out, but I can only get so unhappy over such a short wait! Just don't make me wait 49 years, please. Or leave me utterly without the next book as several authors seem to have done. (The NERVE!)

Thank you for your reply, sir!
