Ah, well, Simon and Baldwin won't have to worry about Despenser - he's gone in one of the later books - King's Gold? I think Simon would still want to avoid knighthood. It's too expensive for him! He'll leave all that stuff to Baldwin.

I'm very much enjoying re-reading them all. I admit the local stories are my favourites, although I did love them getting embroiled in the politics too, it was an interesting departure.
I know one of the books mentioned why Simon didn't want a knighthood, but do you think he's still of that mentality after all the help they gave the king? How do you think he'd go with his own demesne? (I admit, I'm having a giggle imagining the Despenser's reaction to Simon being given land and serfs...)
