If I'm reading the calendar right, it's 2014--time to drag the cave men into the 21st century. I say, go with your woman name and market the shit out of your book, with the emphasis on "I dare ya". Oh and Ursula LeGuin is a pretty girly name. Mary McCaffrey, too. Doris Lessing. Margaret Atwood. Just sayin'.
Slightly off topic: Friends of mine named their firstborn daughter Charlotte Adventure [Lastname]. Had they had a boy, he would have been Maximillian Danger [Lastname]. They're awesome people.
Back on topic: I have to second Kevin's comment (both parts!). Unfortunately, the genre is still something of an Old Boys' club. There are great female sci-fi writers out there, but a lot of men (even in 2014) still are skeptical of the ability of women to write "good" sci-fi (whatever that may mean).
But to that I second Marie's comments, re: Le Guin, McCaffrey, Atwood. Go for it! Be you, and the hell with anyone who says otherwise!

That said, my dad and his friends are all huge fans of that particular genre. Knowing them, I would unfortunatunfortunatelye say a male or less feminine name would increase your sales. Just my experience, might not be typical.
