Phil After working on my second book, let me mention the benefit of swinging back and forth between planning and spontaneity. No doubt, when the "block" (or dam) is down and the creative waters are gushing downstream, writing is ecstasy. However, while the wall is high and the waters are still pooling, it's a good time to consider possibilities. For example, I used the Enneagram and Myers-Briggs to understand the characters that were emerging and to guess how they might respond to the crises they faced in my stories.
