There are so many new and old to read. When I re-read, I am startled by how much I missed growing up when I read the likes of Dumas, Stevenson and Twain.. So much went zipping over my head. Quite agree on Childhood's End. Clarke had special insights as did Heinlein, though the latter can be tedious at times. Of the newer, Jemison and Marie Brennan (ex-IU) standout, though Marie uses anthropology and folklore in her writings and is more fantasy than syfy. Ditto for a relative newcomer Signe Pike whose The Lost Queen and The Forgotten Kingdom are repositioning the Arthurian legend in to history as in the Englaland Strathclyde border. Her research is leading he to continue the intended trilogy into an extended telling similar to Cornwell's The Last Kingdom series. Merry Christmas.
Thanks for the recommendations! I'm not such a fan of fantasy, but I'll check these folks out. Thanks.
