Thanks for answering! I figured some far-right organization made those versions for conservative Christian parents or something.
I have a lot of christian friends who love Percy Jackson, and would've prefered the LGBTQ+ content to be removed to align with their beliefs. I personally don't have a problem with it, but I would want kids with conservative parents to get to read this amazing series with the LGBTQ+ content removed than not at all.
I'd imagine this version gave Nico a girlfriend in Will's place; the story could be about him and her. Of course, the original story does go into LGBTQ+ struggles and Nico's experience as a gay person, which you can't really do with straight Nico in a heterosexual relationship.
It's called russian censorship. They have a thing for it, they can even ban books if there's even a hint of LGBTQ+.
