Mark, I think you're onto something. Isaac Asimov once said "I had writer's block once; worst ten minutes of my life."



I find that if completely stuck, it is better to start typing almost anything about the characters already devised and before long the characters will take over in my head in order to convert the gibberish into following the traits already devised. This may be why some (poor unenlightened souls) might think all I write to be gibberish but it does overcome the block.
