I just took a peek at some of Damon Runyan's writing on Amazon, and he does indeed write in a first-person present-tense voice in his writing. I might point out one difference, however. His writing, at least the small sample I have read, is in the moment, whereas, my writing is much more entangled with memory. Thanks for the reference! I don't see too much of this style, and I like it very much.
