I have read several of your books, but just finished A Shadow in Moscow, and then the Berlin Letters. You do such a great job conveying the way it would feel to live under the regimes in both, and brought up so many things that I had never learned about or thought of, even having lived during the Cold War. I didn't expect for either of them to be among my favorites - I don't like dual timelines/time split/time slip (I'm never sure the right term) and prefer my historical fiction WWII or earlier.... but these 2 books were so incredible! This reading of Shadow was actually my second time through, and Berlin led me down so many rabbit trails afterward - like, what ever happened to Schabowski? They let him live out his life in a nursing home? What? haha That seems so incongruous to the regime he worked for - it feels like that could be a whole other story on its own, you know? Anyway, I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed both!
