How about that Brexit, Alan? I guess your bearded droning still qualifies as counterculture…literally. Counter to any semblance of culture.

The reason you dont see a "counter-culture" is because the idea of a counter-culture was born in the days of hierarchical classification. You could be mainstream or you could be in the be in the the counter-mainstream culture. This isnt the way the world works anymore.
There are an infinite number of communities emerging, converging, forking, and disappearing back into the aether. You may subscribe to several and your life and behavior is just as affected today as they were 50 years ago. Some participate publicly, some privately, and a few, in truly anonymous ways. But even truly anonymous does not mean void of authenticity. Participating at various levels of anonymity allow people to share more openly their own views philosophical, political, religious, etc.
There is no longer a uniform for non-joiners and nonconformists. No label or geographic location can be associated. But rest assured there are countless people in the world dissenting against the corporation, government, religion, The Way Things Have Always Been Done and just about any idea that has ever been thought and expressed. And they are having greater impact than anyone could have imagined.
