I would be unhappy if I had to pay full price for shorter works. It would look like the auther is just trying to make a bunch of money on 3 books that should be one.

I think that novel serialization has its place, but not necessarily for everything. On the other hand, I'm always perpetually behind on series, so I'm lucky to finish them in any sort of reasonable timeframe...
