Aww! That's so brutal! I wish there was some way you could get around it.. what about short stories - or ebooks or serials - or do they own the rights to the entire series and future novels written in that story world. I'm not very knowledgeable on publishing contacts.

They own the rights plus there's a "non-compete" clause. :( I hope you'll enjoy the new books. I feel very liberated writing them!
