I just finished reading through 32 chapters of the sequel to Atmoshere because I had put it down for a two month road trip and lost my thread. I ended up rewriting a bunch and consolidating four chapters into two. Finally, I am moving forward again.
PS, back stories are great, even if they only inform the character's behavior from the sideline and readers never see them.
