I need to include an addendum to this answer, specifically in regards to being a "super-outliner." Turns out, I am not a super-outliner. I do use outlines, but I'm finding that my process is not easily categorized as either "pantser" or "plotter." I am a mixture of both, I would say. This comes from having abandoned much of my outline for the book I'm working on right now. I'm making up stuff left, right, and center and the story is springing to life in a way that it wasn't doing when I was trying to work from an outline. So when it comes to dealing with writer's block, I still use my journal-writing method, and I still work on multiple projects (and side projects). But I think for my own writing process, outlining can be helpful at times or it can be stifling at times. The "super-outlining" thing didn't really solve writer's block issues; in some ways it exacerbated them. So I've revised my process, making sure that outlining didn't become a strait-jacket.
