Wow - thank you Scott for that really great answer. I love your idea about subdivisions that you don't recognize (subdivisions are actually quite scary places sometimes I find!). I also like the idea of culture shaping people (I grew up in New Zealand and had a mix of cultural influences - British, US and local cultures). Anyway, I think your book is awesome and really original. Thank you. (Oh and my initiation into SF was with sixties (and seventies) books as well, they are pretty great!) Deborah
