Beautiful answer. Thank you. <3
Wow, you're very self-aware. A lot of writers don't pick up on those motivations as their reasons for writing. They can really drag some writers down, including myself. I have to go through a process to integrate those emotions before I can write again. Otherwise, my writing's affected and it's just not as fulfilling. Props for using those issues to push you through your writing. It isn't easy. You do awesome work. Thanks so much for sharing it with everyone.
This made me feel like I don't have to write my own stuff in a day. Thanks! Obviously because Sanderson is now the gold standard in writing, for consistently creating mind-blowing stories of all kinds. Love your work!
Thank you, Mr. Sanderson. You introduced me to Dalinar and it was instant love. My longing heart is counting the days until we hear from him again. <3
Your obligation to me is heartening, I want you to never stop! I've been bored with later fantasy for some time now and your books have been a breath of fresh air.
Thank you for your efforts! I am a psychotherapist. Sometimes the stories of "our world" get a bit too intense for me. Your writing creates a door to respite and much needed "play." Thank you for your imagination in creating worlds that inspire us as well as your integrity in creating flawed and relatable characters that we can love!
Thank you. I want the stories in your head told too. I and my family members greatly appreciate your work ethic and eagerness to share. Keep it up please.
I'm reading The Way of Kings. It's amazing... have no words to describe how much I'm in love with everything you put in this book. <3
"it has transitioned into a feeling of obligation to the readers mixed with a desire to see these stories in my head told."
As much as I hate that any author should be put in a situation that obligation is a motivation, I have to say that I respect you for this. If readers have committed to reading a series, I think an author should respect their fans and commit to finishing the series. It is not wrong for a reader to have expectations for a timely conclusion to a series of novels. Anyway...Thank you Brandon for sharing your stories with us. They are all amazing and I am better for having experienced them. I look forward to more works from you.
The real answer is that Brandon Sanderson is a freaking bawsce and his pen is mightier than the sharpest shard blade. As a 31 year old man, I hope to be like him when I grow up. :D
I love your books! If you're feeling overwhelmed, you can shorten the number of books & their length. I want to still be around to know the ending to The Way of Kings! lol. Just a suggestion.
I would like to say thank you for letting us be a part of the stories in your head. It's always and fun adventure! We appreciate the effort you put in.
