I can't wait!!!
Miranda, how are we coming on Lord Seelye's story? I am going into withdrawals waiting for my next Horseman. Do I need to apply the lash to your hindquarters? :-)
OW, OW, OW, No need, am doing it myself. Actually, I've had to take a break, go visit my Dad. WIll be getting back to it after a refreshing break shortly. Lots more to do before it's finish, however. My apologies. I'm slow.
Thank you. I should also mention the bone growth on my wrist that makes using my left hand painful. But I'm saving that for later, should the need arise. I'm crossing my fingers for surgery, that would be an iron-clad excuse for my slowpokery.
Hope you had a nice visit with dad, and sorry to hear about your wrist, Miranda. That makes it harder for me to fulfill my role as designated nag. Keep us posted on the surgery thing.
Thanks. Nag away, I can use all the 'encouragement' I can get. It's the anniversary of a sad thing that happened and sort of at a stand still. But whatever. Must re-read what I've written and fix it.
I'm so sorry and SO THANKFUL you think so. I am busily writing away and sweating in the heat. How about you?
Gardening like a mad woman to take advantage of the 3 months of warm weather my corner of the world is allotted, systematically driving my boyfriend insane with house projects, and training my tiny yappy dog to scare away rabbits, birds, and the occasional small child that wanders into the flower beds.
So nothing really interesting as of late.
I have been trying to grow Rhubarb from seeds, the seedlings sprout indoors but tiny gnat-like bugs seem to kill them before I can plant them in a bed ARGH!!! Grasshoppers are nibbling my radishes' leaves but fingers crossed the chard will be okay. Also have free-range melons starting to fruit (I toss melon seeds/rindy stuff on the ground various places just to see what happens.) but it's a short season here, too, at high altitude. Can get a hard frost in October. (Had snow at higher elevations into June). Funny about the dog, but best of luck with that!
Are they fungus gnats? I had an issue with them about 2 years back. They are pretty easy to get rid of once identified.
I'm not sure if you like good creepy-crawlies - but if you do I recommend getting some praying mantises. They will be the protectors of your leafy greens. However don't make my mistake and get both mantises and lady bugs. It's a blood bath :(
Oh dear, I have a few(?) mantises (love to see them) also brought in lady bugs for aphids on my peach tree. They seem to be holding their own, mantis-wise. But I feel terrible about it now. Hey, may I contact you directly?THis isn't really the place for my gardening Q's esp. how to identify fungus gnats (belch).
I couldn't just email mail you so I've asked you to be a friend, something I never do as a GR author, I usually only respond to requests but my rhubarb seedlings are all dead!!!! Help!
