If you aren't already reading them, though I suspect you are, I'd suggest adding some of the Tom Swift books to your list (the first series that started in 1910). My dad, who was born in 1923, loved them as a kid and introduced them to us in the 1950's. I used to sneak them from my brother's room as soon as he was finished with them. They were much more interesting than the typical written-for-girls series I was supposed to like.
