I am ashamed to say I still haven’t visited Ireland. My father promised to take me when I turned twelve but he didn’t return till he was in his seventies and I was working in London by then. He told me he was shocked that you could no longer see Lough Key from the old family farm because of all the trees—he hadn’t been back since the thirties. I was pleased to read they want to bring back the native Irish woodland and some of the fauna. On a related note I saw a video about reforesting of Iceland. I never knew it was heavily wooded before the Irish and Norwegians colonised it. It would be great if Iceland, Scotland and Ireland got their forests back.
