I totally agree. I was 20 when I saw "Wait Until Dark" with Audrey Hepburn. I am not embarrassed to say, I sat in my bed, had the blanket pulled up to my nose and was scared to death. Audrey Hepburn plays a blind woman, who is being chased by drug dealers. When she realizes that they are coming to kill her (but she really does not know where the drugs are) she barricades herself in her flat. She knocks out all light bulbs so the bad guys have the disadvantage, but she could care less, because she is blind anyway and can find her way in the apartment ‘without light’. When finally the ‘bad guy’ opens the refrigerator door and the light comes on because Audrey Hepburn never knew that refrigerators have lights on the inside, my brain was racing, trying to find a solution how she could save herself. [I am not going to write spoilers… if you want to know, you’ll have to watch the film] The scene of action was a kitchen, the most ordinary of all environments. A refrigerator had a ‘starring role’ – I guess today’s directors cannot even imagine that…. No special effects were needed, suspense was created by the intelligent plot!!!
